San Francisco Ladies Auxiiary Initiation

July 7, 2018 - San Francisco, CA
District Deputy Lori McCoy Shuler and KPC Ladies Auxiliary members of Northern California welcomed the reinstatement of two (2) and the initiation of eight (8) new Ladies Auxiliary members into courts of the Western States District.  San Franciso Clavers hosted members from Oakland, Richmond, East Palo Alto, and Sacramento, CA to a beautiful morning of initiation ceremonies and fellowship in the name of our Patron Saint, Peter Claver.  Assisting District Deputy Shuler were areas deputies from Northern CA--Ladies LeeAnn Hall-Vernetta Bucknor-Patricia Gee and Ladies Auxiliary Members from Courts 120, 336, 122, 127, 137, 155, 175, 230, and 296.  Over the past two years the Western States District has been able to initiate and reinstate over 91 members into the Ladies Auxiliary.  Congratulations and welcome to our New Ladies.

The Western States District is growing!!!! Pictured with Most Worthy Supreme Knight James Ellis (center), Jr. Knights and Jr. Daughters from the Western States District attended the 2017 KPC Jr. National Convention held in Kansas City, Missouri on July 6-9, 2017.  District Deputy Bruce Sampson, WSD Jr. Knight Director Darryl Dickerson and WSD Jr. Daughter Directress Lydia Price accompanied several Juniors from the Western States District during the leadership building and fun-filled weekend.  WSD Jr. Conference Jr. Daughter President, Rashida Garcia, of Jr. Court #306, represented the Western States on the Jr. National  Board of Directors at this convention.  Jr. Daughter Cori Chapman of Jr. Court 220 took the extra step of running for a Jr. National Office at this convention.  The lifelong friends and memories each Jr. made at this convention will be something they will remember for the rest of their lives. The  Jr. National Convention Awards Banquet was great! Multiple winners from Junior Courts 220 and 306. Junior Knight Ayiden Tyler of Branch 358 and Junior Daughter Rashida Garcia, of Junior Court 306 were winners in both talent and performance as Junior Knight and Junior Daughter of the Year! 

Junior Knight Brian Young of Branch 358 came within four votes of being the elected National Junior Knight Sergeant at Arms--and he didn't have a stitch of campaign​ material. He came close to defeating a strong candidate from Texas in the run-off election.  Kudos to our Juniors for representating the Western States on the National level.  Remember our Juniors are the future of this organization.

The cause for canonization of Father Augustus Tolton, who was the first visible African American Priest ordained in the Catholic Church was highlighted at a mass celebrated on May 15, 2017 at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in Inglewood, California.  Bishop Joseph Perry, Auxiliary out of the Diocese of Chicago,  who is also on point to lead the charge for canonization of Fr. Tolton, attended  the Latin High Mass Celebration.  The mass was made extra special by a $4000 monetary presentation from members of Rose Casanave Chapter 15, Gracious Ladies Sybil Gatling and Joyce Williams who were representing the Augustus Tolton Society of Oakland, CA at this celebration.

No. California Clavers' Pilgrimmage to Shrine of St. Peter Claver

The Northern California Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary Inter-Councils and Courts (NCICC) in conjunction with the
Diocese of Oakland are making final preparations for their 2017 Pilgrimmage to the Shrine of St. Peter Claver in
Cartegana, Colombia South America, scheduled for June 5-12, 2017. During a final pre-trip preparation meeting held at the
rectory of the Cathedral for the Diocese of Oakland, the above pre-trip photo of many of the pilgrims who will attend the
trip, was taken.  Several KPC/KPCLA members are in the photo along with other pilgrims including:

19th Annual Fall Ladies Luncheon & Fashion Show sponsored by Ct. 336

The Ladies of St. Benedict Court #336 in Oakland, CA held their 19th Annual Fall Elegant Ladies Luncheon and Fashion Show on Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the beautifully transformed St. Benedict Church Hall.  This annual fashion show is Court 336's largest fundraiser with a goal to raise monies to award scholarships to young ladies attending Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Oakland. WSD Juniors 2016 Jr. Conference in Las Vegas, NV

The Jr. Knights and Jr. Daughters of the Western States District held their biennial conference at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on June 24-25-26, 2016.  Meetings, charity, conference mass, and the renewal of friendships from throughout the district was on the minds of all in attendance. The conference theme, "Keep Calm Claver is With Us" was prevalent the whole conference weekend particularly as they elected new Jr. Conference officers for the 2016-2018 term.  The Jr. WSD Conference Officers for the Jr. Knights are  Jr. Knight Brendan Wilkerson-President, Jr. Knight Brian Young-Vice President, Jr. Knight Aiden Tyler-Recording Secretary, Jr. Knight Spencer Fuller-Fin Secy/Treasurer, and Jr. Knight Jonathan Hanks-Sergeant-at-Arms.  The Jr. WSD Conference Officers for the Jr. Daughters are Jr. Daughter Rashida Garcia-President, Jr. Daughter Adaeze Oduma-Vice President, Jr. Daughter Troi Antee-Recording Secretary, Jr. Daughter Samara Holloway-Fin Secy/Treasurer, and Jr. Daughter Cori Chapman-Mistress-at-Arms.  Congratulations to all the newly elected Jr. WSD Conference Officers!!!

On Friday, May 27, 2016 a wonderful occasion happened in Las Vegas, NV.
Congratulations are in order to two new Sir Knights of the Knights of Peter Claver, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Joseph Anthony Pepe, Bishop of the Diocese of Las Vegas and Reverend Father Ron Zanoni, Pastor of St. James the Apostle in North Vas Vegas.
Thank you to the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights that participated in this auspicious occaison. Their participation really made this a most extraordinary event.
Special thank you to the Ladies of Grace, Chapter 49 for a fabulous meal after a Most Spiritual 4th Degree Exemplification.

KPC to Process Grand Marion Procession

Click here to see the video of last year's (2014) occasion.  Members of the Queen of Angels Foundation (www.thequeenofangels.com) and the Knights of Peter Claver will celebrate the City of Los Angeles' birthday and pay tribute to Our Lady of the Angels in its Fourth Annual Grand Marion Procession.  Saturday, August 29, 2015 beginning at 3 p.m., participants will gather in full regalia along with residents and visitors to process from La Placita to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

The event starts with a processional crucifix, followed by a statue of the Blessed Mother in a processional carriage highlighted by banners, flags, color guards, horses and bagpipers.  Participants include Knights and Dames of Malta, Knights of St. Lazarus, Knights of Columbus, Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver, Knights and Ladies of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher, Los Angeles Police Department Color Guard and Emerald Corps, Catholic Association of Latino Leaders, Grupo Guadalupano, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Boy Scouts Color Guard and many more.

The 2015 schedule of events are as follows:

  • 3:00 p.m. Marian Procession commencing at La Placita - 535 N. Main St. leading through downtown Los Angeles to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels at
  • 4:00 p.m. Rosary in the Cathedral plaza
  • 4:30 p.m. Processional entry into Cathedral
  • 5:00 p.m. Votive Mass
  • 5:30 p.m. Reception in the plaza

Knights of Peter Claver Founders Day Mass Celebrations and Turnouts  - November 10, 2019

Southern California - The Coordinating Councils and Courts will be celebrating on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at St. Albert the Great  Catholic Church in Compton, CA.  Mass is at 9:00 am.

Northern California - The Inter-Councils and Courts of Northern California will celebrate KPC Founders Day on Sunday, November 10, 2019  Mass is TBD.

Sacramento, California- St. Peter Claver day will be celebrated on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 5337 7th Ave, Sacramento, CA.  Mass is TBD.

Phoenix, Arizona - Council and Court 369 will be celebrating on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at their 3rd Sunday Unity Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church,  809 S. 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ.  Mass is at 10:00 AM with a line up at 9:30 AM.

Portland, Oregon- Court 225 will be celebrating on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at  Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 2910 N. Williams Ave, Portland, OR.  Mass is at 11:00 AM with a line up at 10:30 AM.

Seattle, Washington - Council and Court 218 will be celebrating on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 820 18th Ave, Seattle, WA.  Mass is at 10:00 AM with a line up at 9:30 AM.  A luncheon will follow at the House of Hong Restaurant located on 6th and Jackson.

Las Vegas, Nevada- Council and Court 358will be celebrating on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church,  1920 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Las Vegas, NV.  Mass is at 110:00 AM with a line up at 10:30 AM.
